Why therapy?
As an emotion-focused psychotherapist, I can help you find your footing in the midst of difficulty, get to the heart of what you’re struggling with, and navigate complex situations in a way that feels true to you. I offer my presence, curiosity, and a willingness to be with you in both the dark and the lighter moments. My approach is experience-oriented and always starts from the here and now.
Old patterns often keep us from acting in line with our inner compass, not least when it matters most. At times, we can feel completely out of touch with ourselves. Who do we become when the pressure is on? How do we choose a direction when everything feels uncertain or overwhelming? For many, it can feel daunting - almost impossible - to break out of our fixed patterns and move forward.
Within Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), we work from the understanding that our emotions are vital sources of information that can help us live in alignment with ourselves. Working with emotions thus becomes a pathway to meaningful change. The approach is grounded in research and firmly rooted in the psychotherapeutic tradition.
We are living in a time of crisis. At times, everything feels overwhelming, and it is easy to end up feeling stuck and unable to act - both in our immediate lives and in relation to the wider world around us. In therapy, I offer a space of respite and reconnection with yourself.
About me
I live in Frederiksberg with my partner and three children - a little one and two older kids from his previous relationship. As an anthropologist with a background in research and teaching, I have spent much of my life trying to understand how different people live in and make sense of the world. That work has taken me far and wide, but after several years abroad, I returned home in 2018 - both to my hometown and, gradually, to myself.
I care deeply about the state of the world, and my cultural horizon has been significantly broadened over the years. I bring my awareness of human differences and commonalities into my psychotherapeutic work, and it is important for me to acknowledge both the shared and the unique existential conditions that shape each of us.
In addition to various articles and other publications, I am the author of two books: Moving Memory (2023) and The Atmospheric City (with Mikkel Bille, 2023).
